You’ve booked a boudoir session (or you’re seriously thinking about it) and now you’re wondering – how do I actually get ready for this?

First of all, take a deep breath. Preparing for your boudoir shoot should feel exciting, not overwhelming. I’m Maria Vasserman of MS VISION, and I'm here to guide you through the entire journey – with zero judgment and a lot of love. This isn’t about being perfect. It’s about capturing you in your most confident, beautiful, real form.

So let’s break it down in a super chill, step-by-step way.

A week before: gentle planning

  • Hydrate & nourish your body: not because you have to look a certain way, but because you’ll feel your best when you’re hydrated and rested.
  • Plan your outfits: read my what to wear guide for inspiration. Choose 3–5 looks you feel amazing in. Don’t forget shoes, jewelry, and any accessories.
  • Book your beauty prep: if you’re doing a wax, manicure, or facial, now’s the time. Try not to do anything too intense right before the shoot – we want you feeling calm, not irritated or red.

A couple days before: prep mode

  1. Try on your outfits: make sure everything fits the way you want. Move around in them. Sit, stretch, pose. You’ll thank yourself later.
  2. Remove tags & stickers: especially on lingerie or bodysuits.
  3. Clean and moisturize your skin: exfoliate gently and use a good moisturizer – your skin will thank you in the photos.

Confirm details with me: I’ll send you reminders and we’ll finalize our studio time, location, and vision.

The night before: treat yourself

  • Get a good night’s sleep: trust me, you’ll glow more with rest than any filter ever could.
  • Pack your shoot bag: include all outfits, accessories, touch-up makeup, hairbrush, and water. Bring a cozy robe or blanket if it makes you feel good between shots.
  • Take it easy: maybe do a face mask, watch your favorite show, or journal about why you’re doing this. Get in the mindset of celebrating yourself.
  • Nourish, but don't overindulge: avoid foods that make you bloat or swell. No need to starve yourself! But it's best to exclude very salty or overly sweet food and alcohol.

The day of: it’s go time!

  • Arrive makeup-free (unless you booked a MUA): I’ll guide you if you want help choosing a makeup artist or stylist.
  • Wear loose clothing to avoid marks: soft joggers, button-up shirts, robes – anything comfy.
  • Give yourself extra time: so you’re not rushing. We want chill, not chaos.
  • Trust the process: you don’t need to know how to pose or perform. I’ll guide you through everything, like your personal hype woman.

My bonus prep advice as your photographer and friend

  • Don’t crash diet or over-exercise – your body is worthy just as it is
  • Don’t compare yourself to boudoir photos online – they’re all edited, styled, and posed. Your beauty is in your uniqueness.
  • Bring something sentimental – a book, necklace, perfume, anything that feels you
  • Be open – to laughing, to trying new things, to letting go a little. That’s when the magic happens.

I’ll be with you the entire time

Preparing for a boudoir session isn’t about transforming who you are. It’s about showing up as the amazing person you already are – and letting that shine through the lens.

As your boudoir photographer at MS VISION, I’ll help you prep, guide you every step of the way, and make sure you feel celebrated and seen.

Let’s turn this experience into something unforgettable.
