You’ve booked your boudoir session (yay!), or maybe you’re still deciding if it’s the right move for you. But either way, one of the first questions that probably popped into your mind is:
"What the heck am I supposed to wear?"
Take a deep breath, friend. I’ve got you.
I’m Maria Vasserman, your boudoir photographer at MS VISION, and I promise to make this entire experience fun, empowering, and way less stressful than you think. Choosing what to wear doesn’t have to be overwhelming – in fact, it can be one of the most exciting parts of the process.
Let’s start with this: there are no rules
Boudoir isn’t one-size-fits-all. The whole point of this photo session is to feel confident, gorgeous, and like the most you version of yourself. That means what you wear should reflect your personality, comfort level, and the vibe we’re creating together.
With me, there’s no pressure to show more skin than you want. Whether you're into lacey lingerie or an oversized sweater that makes you feel like a cozy goddess – both are perfect. And if you’re not sure yet, I’ll help you figure it out.
Outfit ideas that always work
Here are some of my go-to outfit suggestions that photograph beautifully in a boudoir shoot.
1. Matching lingerie sets
Classic and elegant. Black, white, red, jewel tones – you name it. Lace, satin, or mesh can add texture and interest.
2. Bodysuits
These are a fan favorite. Super flattering, body-hugging, and comfy. They elongate the frame and work on all body types.
3. Oversized button-up shirts
Think "stealing your boyfriend's shirt" vibes. It’s effortlessly sexy and gives that just-rolled-out-of-bed feel.
4. Chunky sweaters or cardigans
Great for cozy, soft, natural-light images. Perfect for winter or anyone who loves that relaxed, intimate look.
5. Jeans & a bra
Edgy and modern. Looks great if you want something that blends casual with confidence.
6. Robes or kimonos
Perfect as a layering piece. Add movement and softness, and they give you options during the shoot.
7. Nothing at all (but only if you're feeling it!)
Some of my favorite shots have been silhouettes or back poses that show more skin but still feel tasteful and artistic.
Accessories that add the wow factor
- Jewelry (chunky rings, statement earrings, delicate chains)
- Thigh-high socks or stockings
- Heels or boots
- Hats (yes, seriously!)
- Personal items: a partner’s shirt, your favorite book, or something sentimental
These can take a simple outfit and make it feel uniquely you. During your shoot, I’ll help you style and switch things up so you have lots of variety.
What if I have no idea what to bring?
That’s totally okay – I walk every single one of my clients through this part. I’ll send you prep guides, we’ll build a moodboard together, and I even offer access to my client closet with curated pieces that photograph beautifully.
I want you to feel excited and empowered, not stressed. This isn’t just a photoshoot – it’s a celebration of you. And I’m here the entire time to make sure you feel comfortable and supported.
A few final tips
- Avoid super busy patterns or logos
- Bring 3–5 outfit options so we can play
- Focus on textures (lace, mesh, denim, knits)
- Choose pieces that make you feel amazing, not just what looks good on a hanger
Most importantly: trust yourself. You know what makes you feel beautiful. And if you’re still unsure, that’s what I’m here for.
