Being your birthday present — that’s the best present I can ask for myself.
A mutual friend gifted Rita a photoshoot certificate. We talked with Rita on the phone and she said: “I’m not the kind of girl who’s gonna run through the field and laugh as if it’s a commercial,” – she said. “OK, but most of “my” people laugh in my pictures. Alright, let’s see,” – I quietly thought to myself.
“I also want stylish pictures,” – Rita continued. “Oh, I can do that!” – I thought. “Stylish, confident and sexy. But not sexual. Like, no lace lingerie or anything like that,” – Rita explained.
You probably see where I’m going with this. I was so confused but wanted to make Rita happy no matter what. That’s when I came up with the idea of a primarily black & white shoot. After all, what’s more stylish than that?
When we met up and Rita showed me her outfits, I was so freaking happy. Sense of style is super important to me, and she had that nailed down.
“I also didn’t style my hair on purpose,” – Rita said. “I want it to look naturally messy.” “Okaaay,” – I thought at first. I usually prefer when people get their hair & makeup done for the shoot. But! I changed my mind almost instantly. Perfectly sleek hair and professional makeup would really look out of place here.
All in all, I learned a lot from Rita during this experience. I did many things I’ve never done before, and I’m super happy with the result. I know that Rita is too.
P.S. Yeap, there are still a few smiling/happy running ones. Because I wanted to show Rita that those could look good too and give her variety.
